Time is running out for the Red Devils to secure Champions League football for next season with tonight’s clash against the Blues a must-win fixture.

Ralf Rangnick’s United have lost three of their last four in the Premier League and sit six points behind Arsenal having played a game more ahead of this Thursday night match-up.

In third, Chelsea enjoy a big advantage over the chasing pack and will go ten points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham with five games to go, if they can secure a victory in Manchester.

Manchester United host Chelsea on Thursday in the Premier League where they will hope to boost their top four chances.

United’s loss to Arsenal last Saturday put a dent in their Champions League hopes but all isn’t lost - as long as they find winning form. The club have also had to adapt as their fixture against Chelsea was originally scheduled for 15 May but it had to be moved after the Blues booked their spot in the FA Cup final.

Speaking on the alteration, Rangnick told the club website: “The fact that the Chelsea game was changed from the original fixture is something I didn’t think could happen.

 United's 3-1 defeat against Arsenal at the weekend all but officially ended their hopes of finishing in the top four. An emotional Scott McTominay claimed United are now playing for 'pride' across the remaining four fixtures following that defeat.

United have Chelsea, Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace left to play this season before Erik ten Hag arrives at the club.

Rangnick's side are currently sixth in the Premier League and reluctantly securing Europa League football now seems the aim.

In regards to team news, Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho have been ruled out of the game, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also a doubt. Fred, Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba (all calf) and Luke Shaw (ankle) are all still out. Cavani is due back in training on Friday.
